Cold Milling / Planing
Remove tenths of an inch, or 12 inches in a single pass. PRS has the most diverse fleet of pavement planers in the country.
Whether you’re doing full roadway reconstruction or surface planing for application of an overlay, PRS has the right equipment and expert operators for the job. Recycle the materials yourself or, we’ll haul them to our own Recycled Aggregates facility.
Cold Planing typically removes 1″ – 4″ of surface asphalt or 1″ – 2″ of concrete allowing for the application of a thin overlay or wearing surface, It preserves ancillary structures (e.g. curb and gutter) but allows improvements to the grade and surface of the pavement section.
When used for full roadway reconstruction, cold milling is also capable of removing up to 12 inches of paving material and base in a single pass. Another application is for slot cutting of only badly deteriorated sections of roadway – then full depth paving to restore an otherwise good road.
A significant benefit of cold milling is that the milled material can usually be recycled and used on other projects as compactable base or recycled asphalt pavement. Pavement Recycling Systems’ sales and estimating department will work with you to price your project competitively, and suggest methods and procedures that will add value to your operations.
With the largest and most diverse fleet of pavement planers in the country, Pavement Recycling Systems can provide solutions to all your cold milling and cold planing requirements. Available on a contract basis, or rental (fully operated and maintained) PRS planers give customers the widest choice and best equipment for each type of work.
